Redesign of the solar UPS controller now features a connector for Arduino and Spark and is enabled for the Internet of Things (IoT)

Right at the beginning of the new year I am happy to announce a revision of the solar UPS controller. I got some great feedback over the past time and decided to open the design to the Internet of Things (IoT). The new design now features plugin connector for the Arduino Nano and Spark Core micro controllers. The ATmega2560 has been replaced by simple connectors to be more flexible with future hardware developments and to reduce cost. The new PCB is more compact and fits into standard enclosures which is a significant improvement over the old design.

There are two interfaces (Serial and I2C) to connect the unit other hardware like the Raspberry Pi to extend the usage. By using the Spark the unit can even be hooked into If This Then That (IFTTT) – a service that lets you create powerful connections with one simple statement.
