Solar Soaring: U.S. PV Capacity is increasing

This is a follow up on yesterdays post about the German solar installations. Here are the latest numbers of the solar installations in the U.S. which I found found here:

Second-quarter U.S. solar results show a sector on the move, with strong growth, declining costs, and a great future. The results, from the Solar Energy Industries Association and GTM Research’sjust-released Q2 report, show that the last quarter alone brought 832 megawatts (MW) of new solar photovoltaic (PV) and concentrating solar power (CSP) capacity, the industry’s second-best quarter ever.

There is now almost 1 gigawatt of total solar electric capacity installed in the U.S., enough to power more than 1.5 million average homes. That is good news – it is still less than 5% of the total installed German solar photovoltaic systems but its is a good start!
